IN THE CIRCUIT COURT, SEVENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT IN AND FOR ST. JOHNS COUNTY, FLORIDA

Re: SERVICE OF CIVIL PROCESS

Ref: CV-2024-021-SJ

        WHEREAS, pursuant to § 48.021, Florida Statutes, a Sheriff may appoint “special process servers” to serve initial, non-enforceable civil process in his/her county, and 

        WHEREAS, the Sheriff of St. Johns County, Florida has advised the Court of his intention to utilize a “Special Process Server” program in St. Johns County;

        NOW THEREFORE, I, LEAH R. CASE, Chief Judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, hereby endorse the St. Johns County Sheriff’s plan to utilize a Special Process Server* program as outlined in § 48.021, Florida Statutes, for purposes of serving initial, non-enforceable civil process in St. Johns County, Florida.

*NOTE:  The use of special process servers described above may obviate the need for motions to appoint individuals to serve process pursuant to Rule 1.070(b), Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.  As a result, judges in St. Johns County, Florida may rightfully deny such motions.
