Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns, and Volusia County courts will be closed Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday. Courts (courthouses) throughout the Seventh Circuit will resume normal operations on Monday, April 6.
WHEREAS, Article X, Section 16, Florida Constitution, enacts limitations on marine net fishing in Florida waters, and
WHEREAS, § 379.337, Florida Statutes, sets forth procedures for the confiscation, seizure and forfeiture of illegal fishing gear;
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERENCE R. PERKINS, Chief Judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, hereby order that in Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns and Volusia counties, where it is alleged that an illegal seine, net, trap or other fishing devices/equipment is found and taken into custody, and the owner thereof is not known to the officer finding the same, this Order shall serve as the order forfeiting said item to the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission referenced in § 379.337(3), Florida Statutes.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that property forfeited pursuant to this Order must be destroyed or disposed of in accordance with the provisions of § 379.337(4), Florida Statutes.
