The Volusia County Courthouse Annex was officially renamed the Steven C. Henderson Judicial Center in a ceremony held on Aug. 15. Volusia County hosted the dedication event, which was attended by judges from the Seventh Judicial Circuit, local officials, and members of Judge Henderson’s family.

The name change honors the late Judge Steven C. Henderson, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 49. Judge Henderson was appointed as a Volusia County Court Judge in 2012. In 2017, he was appointed Circuit Judge. Prior to becoming a judge, he served as a prosecutor for eight years. Judge Henderson was widely respected for his integrity, fairness, and deep commitment to justice.

While the signage reflecting the new name has been in place for some time, the Aug. 15 ceremony marked the formal dedication of the building in Judge Henderson’s memory. The event included speeches from various dignitaries, including Judge Bryan Feigenbaum, who highlighted Judge Henderson’s significant contributions to the judiciary and the community. The ceremony concluded with unveiling a bronze plaque that now adorns the lobby of the judicial center.

The Steven C. Henderson Judicial Center is located at 125 E. Orange Ave., Daytona Beach. It continues to serve the residents of Volusia County as part of the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, which also includes Flagler, Putnam, and St. Johns counties.
