Volusia County Court Judge Michele S. Simonsen was appointed to the bench in 2025. She earned her undergraduate degree and her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida. She was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1992 and served as an Assistant State Attorney. Earlier in her career, she worked as an Assistant Federal Public Defender and as an Assistant Solicitor in Pickens and Greenville Counties in South Carolina. She currently hears civil cases at the Volusia County Courthouse in DeLand.
