Volusia County Court Judge Joseph LeDonne was appointed to the bench in 2023. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and his Law Degree from Stetson University College of Law. Admitted to The Florida Bar in 2012, he served as an attorney for a year with the Department of Children & Families, then with the 7th Circuit State Attorney’s Office for almost nine years prior to his appointment. Judge LeDonne was also admitted to the Colorado Bar in 2006, where he was a prosecutor for almost seven years with the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, then in private practice for a year before returning home to Volusia County. Judge LeDonne currently hears criminal cases at the Volusia County Courthouse in DeLand.

  • Defendants residing within Volusia County must appear in person unless permission is given otherwise.  Requests to appear by Zoom must be made in writing and filed through the Clerk of Court.
  • Defendants residing outside Volusia County may appear by Zoom.  A request to appear by Zoom must be made in writing and filed through the Clerk of Court.
  • For an arraignment or case management conference, a defendant given permission to appear by Zoom will be reset to a Zoom-only session at a date/time to be noticed by the Clerk of Court.
  • Permission to appear by Zoom that results in rescheduling the court date will be treated as a request for more time, which results in a waiver of speedy trial.
