Circuit Judge Howard M. Maltz was appointed to the bench in 2012. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and juris doctor from the University of Miami in 1986. Judge Maltz was the chief deputy general counsel for the City of Jacksonville for several years before becoming a judge. Prior to that, he served as an assistant state attorney in the Fourth Judicial Circuit for over 10 years. Judge Maltz currently presides over the civil division at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center in St. Augustine. Judge Maltz also currently serves as the Administrative Judge for St. Johns County.
