All Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns, and Volusia County courts will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, for Christmas and New Year’s.
WHEREAS, Rule 2.535, Florida Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration, defines the terms “approved court reporter,” “civil court reporter,” and “approved transcriptionist” and includes references within said definitions of the court establishing certification, training, and other qualifications;
NOW THEREFORE, I, JAMES R. CLAYTON, Chief Judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, hereby order that stenographers and voice writers called upon to serve as court reporters in court proceedings within the Seventh Judicial Circuit must be certified by the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), National Verbatim Reporters Association (NVRA), or Florida Court Reporters Association (FCRA / FPR-C).
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that individuals called upon to produce official transcripts of court proceedings within the Seventh Judicial Circuit must possess a certification from one of the organizations mentioned above, or the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT). Said certifications are to be referenced on the “reporter’s certificate” page at the end of every transcript.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that upon request, a court reporter must present proof that he/she is certified as referenced herein. Failure to do so may result in a court reporter being enjoined from reporting court proceedings within the Seventh Judicial Circuit.
