All Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns, and Volusia County courts will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, for Christmas and New Year’s.
WHEREAS, Veterans Courts help provide for the needs of justice-involved veterans suffering from military-related mental illnesses, traumatic brain injuries, substance abuse disorders, and/or psychological problems, and
WHEREAS, a Veterans Court has been operating in Volusia County since 2013;
NOW THEREFORE, I, JAMES R. CLAYTON, Chief Judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, hereby reaffirm the establishment of Volusia County Veterans Court divisions to which certain criminal cases involving military veterans meeting program eligibility criteria may be referred/assigned.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Volusia County Veterans Court divisions be designated as Division 75 (west Volusia) and Division 88 (east Volusia) for assignment purposes and that judges be assigned to preside. Upon receipt of appropriate orders of the Court, the Clerks of Court shall assign/transfer designated cases to Divisions 75 and 88. Veterans Court cases currently assigned to Division 72 are to be reassigned to Division 75 effective January 3, 2022. Veterans Court cases currently assigned to Division 80 are to be reassigned to Division 88 effective January 3, 2022.
