Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns, and Volusia County courts will be closed Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday. Courts (courthouses) throughout the Seventh Circuit will resume normal operations on Monday, April 6.
WHEREAS, a DUI Treatment Court Task Force previously recommended the establishment of a Misdemeanor DUI Court in Volusia County, and
WHEREAS, the Task Force’s recommendation led to the establishment of a Misdemeanor DUI Court in Volusia County in 2012;
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERENCE R. PERKINS, Chief Judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, hereby reaffirm the establishment of a Volusia County Misdemeanor DUI Court division and program, to which certain driving under the influence cases may be referred/assigned.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that a Volusia County Court Judge be assigned to the Volusia County Misdemeanor DUI Court division and that said division be designated as Division 87 for assignment purposes. Upon receipt of appropriate orders of the Court, the Volusia County Clerk of Court shall assign/transfer cases so designated to Division 87 (Misdemeanor DUI Court).
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the DUI Court judge shall convene a DUI Court Advisory Committee, comprised of relevant stakeholders and other interested parties, to advise and assist the DUI Court judge and Chief Judge in the operation of the Volusia County Misdemeanor DUI Court program. The DUI Court judge shall serve as chair of the advisory committee.
