Putnam County Court Judge Elizabeth A. Morris is retiring effective November 30, 2025.
Judge Morris received her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida. She was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1992 and was appointed to fill a newly created Putnam County Court judgeship in 2000. She was subsequently elected in 2002 and reelected in 2008, 2014, and 2020, all without opposition. As a County Judge, Morris primarily handled civil actions, including small claims, evictions, and infractions, and served on the Putnam County Canvassing Board for several election cycles. In her capacity as an acting Circuit Judge, Morris presided over the Putnam County Drug Court and was frequently tasked with covering Family and Juvenile matters. Judge Morris worked in private practice for eight years before becoming a judge.
Chief Judge Leah Case remarked, “As the longest serving judge in our circuit, Judge Morris’ advice, counsel, and willingness to help her colleagues will surely be missed. However, after a long and distinguished career on the Bench, her retirement is well earned. I wish her well.”
Judge Morris’ position will be filled by gubernatorial appointment.
