Volusia County Court Judge Michele S. Simonsen was appointed to the bench in 2025. She has been a member of The Florida Bar since 1992 and served as an Assistant State Attorney in the Seventh Judicial Circuit beginning in 1998. Earlier in her career, she worked as an Assistant Federal Public Defender and an Assistant Solicitor in Pickens and Greenville Counties in South Carolina. She earned both her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida. Judge Simonsen currently hears civil cases at the Volusia County Courthouse in DeLand.
