Circuit Judge Howard M. Maltz was appointed to the bench in 2012. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami. He was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1986 and served as an Assistant State Attorney in the Fourth Judicial Circuit before becoming Chief Deputy General Counsel for the City of Jacksonville. He currently hears civil cases at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center in St. Augustine, and also serves as the Administrative Judge for St. Johns County.
