Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns, and Volusia County Courts will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Circuit Judge Dawn D. Nichols was appointed to the bench in 2014. Prior to becoming a judge, she worked as an assistant public defender in the Seventh Judicial Circuit and worked in private practice in Daytona Beach. Judge Nichols has an undergraduate degree and a juris doctor from the University of Florida and is board certified in marital and family law. She previously presided in a family law division and currently hears criminal cases and presides over Drug Court at the Kim C. Hammond Justice Center in Bunnell.
