Drug Testing Lab
The Drug Testing Lab was established to lower drug testing costs and provide faster service to the Court. Volusia County Government provides funding for the lab, while revenues collected from some clients offset part of the operational costs. The workload of the lab corresponds to the number of judges and court programs who utilize its services. Presently, the lab offers testing services in cases referred by circuit and county court judges in Volusia County. Court programs such as Pretrial Services, Drug Court and Teen Court also utilize the lab’s services, as do several agencies such as Judicial Correction Services, Inc. (JCS), Community Partnership for Children, Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare and Family Renew.
The Drug Testing Lab uses state-of-the-art Enzyme Multiplied Immunoassay Techniques (EMIT) technology for its testing. This form of testing provides cost-efficient, accurate and timely test results.
