Volusia County Court Judge David A. Cromartie was appointed to the bench in 2018. He received both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida. An attorney since 1998, he spent much of his legal career with the Office of the State Attorney in the Seventh Judicial Circuit. He handled misdemeanor and felony cases, worked on the career criminal unit and then served for five years as managing assistant state attorney for the juvenile and misdemeanor divisions in Daytona Beach. He also worked in private practice for seven years, handling criminal, family, personal injury and civil cases. He currently presides over criminal cases at the Steven C. Henderson Judicial Center in Daytona Beach.
