IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF FLORIDA, SEVENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT IN AND FOR VOLUSIA COUNTY

Re: Assignment of Administrative County Court Judge

Ref: G-2022-020-V

        WHEREAS, it has been made known to the undersigned that the prompt and expeditious administration of County Court matters requires the assignment of an Administrative County Court Judge in and for Volusia County;

        NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES R. CLAYTON, Chief Judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, do hereby designate Judge A. Christian Miller as Administrative Judge of Volusia County Court.  In his capacity as administrative county court judge, Judge Miller has the following duties, responsibilities and authority:

  1. Serve as the presiding judge of en banc sessions of the Volusia County Court or of any meetings of the Volusia County Court Judges.
  2. Prepare an annual schedule for the coverage of First Appearances and emergency duty.
  3. Prepare a comprehensive monthly schedule for all divisions of Volusia County Court.
  4. Sign reassignment orders upon the recusal (disqualification) of Volusia County Court judges.
  5. Recommend policies and proposed administrative orders to the Chief Judge for the efficient operation of the Volusia County Court.
  6. Ensure that the Volusia County Court is open and available to the public during normal operating hours.

All other matters affecting the administration of justice in Volusia County Court (including, but not limited to, the maintenance or construction of court facilities, assignment of courtrooms or chambers, budgetary matters, jury matters, requests to attend educational programs, requests for travel reimbursement, and media inquiries related to County Court, or the judiciary of Volusia County) are to be directed to the Chief Judge.
